Work

The record. Not the resume.

Selected work across Amazon, Microsoft, and independent consulting engagements spanning healthcare, finance, government, and cloud-native platform delivery.

Amazon Principal Technical Program Manager, April 2022 - 2026 | Nashville, TN

Amazon's corporate onboarding infrastructure is the platform responsible for bringing every corporate hire into the company across 67 countries, 800,000+ annual hires, and more than 12 billion annual transactions. I served as the operational and delivery leader for that platform.

My role was part program director, part architect, part air traffic controller for a 20-team, 100+ engineer organization. I owned the technical roadmap, drove end-to-end delivery from concept to global launch, and simultaneously led a multi-year modernization of core legacy systems without ever interrupting the global hiring operations that depended on them.

Selected outcomes:

  • Directed delivery across 20 engineering teams and 100+ engineers, achieving a 93.4% joiner satisfaction rate and a 17% reduction in support contacts
  • Built and owned the roadmap governance framework for the entire organization: the mechanisms by which senior leaders documented, prioritized, and quantified initiative impact across a portfolio of 30+ services
  • Delivered $13.5M in projected annual savings by onboarding high-volume hiring markets to real-time background screening
  • Drove reduction of 200+ operational headcount through end-to-end process automation, scaling capacity without increasing cost
  • Led the largest annual PeopleSoft deprecation in Joining Amazon history: deprecated 18 legacy UIs, reduced PeopleSoft traffic by 80%, and drove 1.7M annual transactions to a modern platform
  • Standardized the SDLC and defined team-level KPIs across all 20 delivery teams, creating measurable velocity and accountability where none previously existed

Microsoft Corporation Client Chief Technology Officer, June 2016 - May 2020 | Nashville, TN

As Microsoft's virtual CTO and senior technology advisor to the largest for-profit healthcare enterprise in the United States, I served as the strategic bridge between Microsoft's full product portfolio and the long-term technology vision of one of the most complex health systems in the country.

I did not just sell technology. I owned the strategy, the relationships, and the outcomes, functioning simultaneously as transformation leader, architecture owner, and technical sales executive at the C-suite level.

Selected outcomes:

  • Architected the digital transformation strategy that resulted in the largest Healthcare Enterprise Agreement in Microsoft history, exceeding $268M in value
  • Revived a stalled 100K-seat Office 365 deployment, delivering 500% growth within 12 months for the largest public healthcare provider in the United States
  • Drove the strategic plan and resource alignment for a 260K-endpoint Windows 10 deployment across a major enterprise
  • Led executive briefings, product roadmap alignment, and C-suite advisory relationships across multiple large health systems simultaneously

Anytime Telehealth Chief Technology Officer, May 2020 - April 2022 | Nashville, TN

I joined Anytime Telehealth to stabilize a complex SaaS platform constrained by significant technical debt and broken customer trust. Within two months, that same platform was handling 5,000% more visits than it had been when I arrived.

Selected outcomes:

  • Scaled the platform to handle 5,000% growth in visit volume inside a 60-day window
  • Rebuilt trust with customers who had experienced repeated delays and delivery failures
  • Re-architected core components into a serverless environment, resulting in a 90% reduction in cloud and infrastructure costs
  • Increased mobile deployment timeframes by 200% while cutting mobile development costs by 50%
  • Led the company through its first formal security assessments and remediated all critical findings
  • Delivered Anytime's integration into the Epic App Orchard
  • Decreased invalid visit rates by more than 75%

Mike Ross Consulting President, October 2010 - June 2016 | Austin, TX

Founded, built, and operated a profitable software consulting firm serving SMB and enterprise clients across digital health, finance, government, engineering, commerce, and education.

Selected outcomes:

  • Built and managed a team of 15 employees and contractors across onshore and offshore engagements
  • Delivered enterprise software and architecture for Bell County, TX, earning national recognition: 7th in 2013 and 3rd in 2014 as the most digitally advanced county in the U.S. for its population size

The Industries

Healthcare. Finance. Government. Background screening. Cloud-native platforms. Workforce identity.

The industries are different. The pressure inside them is not.
